When applying for a Dominican Republic passport, one of the requirements states that you must submit a set of two passport photos. You have two options in that regard. Dominican Republic Passport Photos and Visa Photo Requirements – Rules, Guidelines, and Specifications
Now that you know the Dominican Republic passport photo requirements, we thought that it may be helpful for you to learn more details regarding a few of them. You may not know this, but an inadequate passport photo is one of the most common causes for which passport applications are rejected.
- The background in a Dominican Republic passport photo must be white. It cannot have colors, patterns, or shadows. You can use a white wall as a background for your passport photo or visa photo, and if you do not have one, a white sheet can do the trick. Just hang it on a wall and voila! You have a perfectly white background for your passport photo.
- When taking the passport photo or visa photo, you must position the camera at eye level. This ensures better exposure of your entire head. Since both sides of your face must be equally visible, do not rotate or tilt your head in any way. If you submit a portrait-style photo, your application will be rejected.
- You are not allowed to smile in a passport photo or visa photo, nor can you frown or raise your brows. Only a neutral facial expression is acceptable. To achieve this, just relax your face when taking the picture.
- Keep your eyes looking straight into the camera when taking the picture. They need to be perfectly visible. They cannot be covered by your hair or by the frames of your glasses. If you have to wear your glasses, there must be no glare in the picture. Sunglasses and glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable in a passport photo or visa photo.
- We all know how the light can play tricks on someone's facial features, so make sure that the light source is in front of you when you take the photo. That way, there will be no shadows on your face. Also, the light cannot be too bright or too dark.
- If your religion does not allow you to keep your head uncovered, you can keep your headwear for the passport photo or visa photo. However, it cannot create any shadows on your face, and your face must be entirely visible from one ear to the other and from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your chin.
- If you usually have a beard and you plan on keeping it, you can keep it for the passport photo as well.
Rules and Requirements for Babies, Infants, and Newborn Passport and Visa Photos
Children of all ages need to have their own individual passport and visa. You can take their picture at home too, as long as you follow the guidelines. Here are some tips that should be of assistance.
- Children have smaller heads, which is why it is acceptable for their heads to occupy less surface in a passport photo or visa photo.
- When photographing your child in a car seat, cover the backrest with a white sheet.
- Do you want to take a picture of your child from above in the lying down position? Then make sure to place the baby on a white sheet or blanket.
- Children should not have headwear either. If your baby has a pacifier, remove it for the passport photo.
- Children should be awake when you take the picture.
Cost
Going to a photo studio to have your passport photo taken can be quite costly. If you have done so in the past, then you must be aware of that. A Dominican Republic passport requires 2 photos, and with iVisa Photos, you can get the set for only $5.99. That is approximately 320 DOP, depending on the exchange rate on the day of your purchase. Cheap, right?
